Description

The Maxim Hotel and Casino, located at 160 E Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89109, opened on July 1, 1977. Although smaller than other Vegas resorts, Maxim was popular for its personal service and attention to detail. The Maxim thrived in the 1980s but declined with the rise of larger resorts on the Strip. West Coast Mortgage foreclosed on the Maxim in 1998, purchasing it for $15 million. Gaming executive Ed Nigro operated the property under a five-year lease, but in 1999 West Coast sold it to timeshare developer Premier Interval Resorts for $36.5 million. Nigro closed the Maxim due to a financial dispute with Premier. The hotel was then placed into receivership and reopened without its casino. In June 2000, it was sold to Revanche for $10 million. Revanche closed the hotel on August 13, 2001. The property is now home to the Westin Las Vegas.
