The Silver Slipper was a casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada, that opened on September 1, 1950. It was located near the Frontier Hotel and Casino, and both properties had the same ownership, though the Silver Slipper’s gaming was leased out later. Howard Hughes leased the casino from 1968 until his death in 1976. The Silver Slipper closed on November 28, 1988 and was demolished to create a parking lot for the Frontier. While plans to rebuild the Silver Slipper Hotel and Casino were made, they never came to fruition. As of 2024, the site, directly across the street from The Encore Hotel Casino, remain vacant. Interesting sidenote: The Silver Slipper was known for its large rotating neon slipper. It stood 12 feet tall and featured more than 900 bulbs. The slipper was along North Las Vegas Boulevard. The famous slipper now resides at the Las Vegas Neon Museum.
