Venue Description

On May 6, 1950, Texas gambler Benny Binion opened the Westerner Saloon & Gambling House at 23 Fremont Street, where the Las Vegas Club used to be. It was next to the Pioneer Club, home to the Vegas Vic neon sign, which stands to this day as a part of the Fremont Street Experience. Binion sold the saloon within a year in order to purchase the Eldorado Club and Apache Hotel, where he opened the famous Horseshoe Club. The Westerner closed in 1960 and the former Westerner property is now home to an ABC Store.
